Mystery Box – Nutiden Yarn Destash (Studio Clearance)

Each mystery box contains approximately 150g of Nutiden yarn—but here’s the fun part: it’s made up of small bits of different colourways that are too tiny to list as full plates. If you know unspun yarn and how it comes in plates, this is either the “mini plate” (the inner core), or the “wormy bits”—those scrappy rolls you get when you’ve used a plate down to its final curls.

Each box is a wild, random assortment of those leftover bits and mini plates from my design process—plus a few colourway changes from the mystery bags tossed in for extra fun. Every single box includes at least one mini roll or mini plate with colour changes.

So, if you (unlike me, as I’ve established) love using a lot of colours in your knitting, are creative with colour play, do a ton of Fair Isle, or just want a low-risk entry into the Nutiden experience—this is a great way to try multiple colours and blends without committing to full plates.

This yarn is part of my Studio Clearance Event, where I’m offering select colourways from my designer’s stash of Nutiden. Some are extras from past designs, others didn’t make it into a sample — but all deserve new homes to be knit, worn, and loved. 

Yarn Info

Nutiden is an unspun yarn made by Höner och Eir (@honerocheir) — a small Swedish mill known for its lanolin-rich, minimally processed unspun wool and fibres.

• 100% Swedish wool, unspun, gently washed
• No bleach, spin oil, or chemicals used
• Lanolin-rich, earthy, soft with a light hand
• Approx. ~530 m / ~580 yds per ~100 g (personal design estimate)
• Plates naturally vary in weight — check item variations for exact grams
• Offered as part of my studio destash, available as individual plates or bundled in 'sweater quantities' (~490 g)
• Some plates are unused and intact. Others are partial but still unwound — meaning untouched and just at a lower weight.

Suggested Use

Nutiden is versatile and works beautifully for:

• Double-stranded sweaters, like the Chloe Sweater or the beginner-friendly Wayfarer Raglan
• Textured knits, such as Oakwood Raglan or Before Fall Sweater, for squishy cables
• Colourwork projects, from beginner Barren Land to the full-colourwork Heritage Sweater
• Single-stranded garments and accessories (best for experienced unspun yarn users)
• Pairing with silk mohair, like in the Soft Spoken Sweater, or with laceweight yarns for custom blends

Nutiden has an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio, making it ideal for oversized garments and natural-feeling textures.

 Please Note:

• Natural colourways may contain small bits of plant matter or wool residue
• Some pigmented shades may lightly stain fingers during knitting or bleed slightly in the first wash
• Always hand-wash gently — a little vinegar in the first rinse is recommended
• Photos show one full plate per colourway, not each individual item
